The impressive Ventosilla Estate needs no introduction and is commonly recognised as the first and oldest driven partridge shoot in Spain. Game books still held within the Castle date back to the mid 1800’s and depict how the Estate was established and has grown over the years. Having played a hugely important part in Spanish history this impressive Castle and accompanying Estate is recognised worldwide. William Powell Sporting is delighted to have the opportunity to offer shooting at this incredible Estate.
Location
Ventosilla is phenomenally well located at just over one hour from Madrid airport allowing teams to enjoy an easy transfer to the Estate. Once on the Estate, it is never too much trouble for Guns or Non-shooting guests to venture to the historic city of Toledo to see the impressive sights it has to offer including the Primatial Cathedral of Saint Mary Cathedral which is internationally renowned. In addition to this, given the proximity, evening trips to Madrid are also possible.
Lodge
The extraordinary pink Ventosilla castle is easily recognisable and nothing short of the perfect location for a full team of Guns to be based from whilst enjoying the impressive hospitality of this historical Estate. Having undergone a further recent refurbishment, the Castle is able to host full teams and their guests in a variety of spacious and luxurious rooms including impressive drawing and living rooms with substantial open fireplaces to relax in front of. Guests often also enjoy dining in the Castles traditional dining room, which is one of the oldest parts of the Castle and has undoubtedly seen some phenomenal banquets over the centuries.
Shooting
Ventosilla offers guest the opportunity to shoot a huge variety of drives across its impressive circa 11,000 acres. These drives include the likes of Buho, Gurugu & Barranco, all renowned for their challenging tall birds as well as Alcantarilla and Palomar, drives recognised for their challenging, fast and traditional Spanish partridge dating back to the 1890’s when they were first driven. Not only is it the impressive Castle and shooting that has earned Ventosilla the reputation it so rightly deserves, but also the attention to detail and hospitality provided between drives. With a range of destinations for tacos to be enjoyed at each day offers something new.
The Estate also offers driven monterias, which is hugely popular amongst visiting teams.
