Cockley Cley Shoot
A stunning traditional Norfolk Country sporting estate offering what was a previously private shoot for a handful of teams to enjoy. The Cockley Cley shoot consists of approximately 5,500 acre of arable, pasture and woodland, boasting an impressive selection of 40 drives giving the shoot team flexibility to provide top quality shooting in a variety of different weather conditions. Days on the estate usually consist of a bag of up to 300 birds, made up of both Pheasant and Partridge.
The estate has a number of well-positioned game covers situated to enhance the presentation of game and provide ideal habitat for both Pheasant and Partridge. In addition to this, the estate has up to 30 acres of ground in dedicated Countryside Stewardship Schemes, which provide an abundance of wild bird food, pollen, nectar and cultivated nesting plots. In addition to this, the Estate has a further 10 acres of wild bird mixes, which not only benefit the game but also the multiple red-listed spices such as stone curlew, common curlew and lapwings that live on the Estate.
A typical day on the estate consists of arrival at 08:45 with tea and coffee. Following this, the team would depart at 09:15 for the first drive with two before elevenses, usually consisting of soup, game nibbles, sloe gin, champagne and a selection of soft drinks. Following elevenses, a third drive is shot before everyone returns to Cockley Cley Hall for a formal sit-down lunch. Following lunch, the team would usually enjoy two further drives before finishing around 15:30 with tea and cake at the hall.
The Cockley Cley Shoot is located in the Norfolk.
