El Koudia: Three Trips Remain for the 2026/27 Moroccan Partridge Season
When Will Southall first travelled to Morocco in 2022 to assess a young Shoot called El Koudia, the feedback was unequivocal: not yet the finished article, but the foundations were remarkable. Several seasons and a great deal of investment later, El Koudia has become the premier driven partridge destination in Morocco, exclusively represented by William Powell Sporting, and this season’s sales have reflected it. Just three two-day trips remain for 2026/27.
Shooting on the Moon
El Koudia sits in the Jbilet hills, 35 minutes north of Marrakech, across some 12,000 acres of deep valleys and rocky hillsides that one Gun memorably described as like shooting on the Moon. The Barbary partridge, indigenous to this ground, is larger than a redleg yet flies stronger, and the drives take in vast expanses of entirely natural topography, with no cover crops in sight. Reared stock is released in late summer and allowed to naturalise before the season opens, and the Estate now boasts a significantly growing wild population, a testament to the Head Keeper and his Estate team.
The trip
Each trip runs for two consecutive days for a line of eight Guns, with each day based on 1,250 shots or up to 250 birds. Five drives a day, lunch at the Shoot Lodge perched above the hills, and the ceremonial presentation of the bag to close each evening. The team price of €40,400 (approximately £4,400 per Gun) is unusually complete: all shoot-day staff, hospitality including lunch, Moroccan permits, up to eight hire guns and 2,500 cartridges, 4×4 transfers and a dedicated shoot host are all included, which makes El Koudia more competitive than a comparable partridge day in the UK.
Guns and non-shooting guests stay in Marrakech, where we can secure favourable rates at hotels including the Royal Mansour, La Mamounia and Amanjena, and the city itself, with its souks, restaurants and day trips to the Atlas Mountains, makes this as much a winter escape as a shooting trip.
Three trips remain
Following the global exposure of Jonny Carter’s film and Matt Kidd’s Fieldsports Journal feature, El Koudia has welcomed teams from across the UK, US, France, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, Portugal and Iceland, and availability for 2026/27 is now limited to three two-day trips:
- 5th and 6th October 2026
- 3rd and 4th November 2026
- 18th and 19th December 2026
