Las Barracas
- Beautifully presented Spanish Partridges in Mallorca -
Las Barracas is an Estate of about 2,500 acres, situated between Calvia and Andratx in Mallorca. The area’s unique terrain, climate and vegetation make it the perfect location for driven and walked up Partridge shooting between September and the following spring months. You can therefore usually enjoy Partridge shooting usually in good weather, both during and outside of the UK’s seasons.
Things have come a long way since we first went to Las Barracas to meet the owners to set out the shoot. On site are now a very professional team of keepers, beaters, loaders, kitchen and serving staff who ensure that the guests enjoy unforgettable shooting days.
These traditional driven partridge shoots are organised for groups of up to 10 guns, with an anticipated bag of 500 partridges per day over five drives. Each gun is provided with their own loader (double guns are used) and a “secretary”. The beating team will try to ensure that on average about 4,000 partridges fly each day over the pegs, with varying levels of difficulty, height and speed, in line with the group’s ability. The shoot is famous for its “tapas” (light refreshments) served during the day as well as the superb meal in the main house at the end of the day (worthy of a luxury restaurant).
